Sustainable foods with local assets?

Here is a good example of effective use of Geopix. We made a web page for a small restaurant in a village named Hol, in Hallingdal, Norway. Their products are top shelf, high class, using award-winning foods in their production. And their owner wants to write a blog.

Looking for relevant assets nearby? We've got you covered

The restaurant was happy with the simple web page, which included a variety of good images to choose from, during the website creation process.

However, when they asked us to create a blog (it's clever to have a blog, by the way), they were unsure if they had relevant images and content to write about. Mostly because this kind of work takes a lot of valuable production time.

We respect that creativity takes time. Lets test the power of Geopix AI.

How do we start?

  • We know the general description of the business (Stundo.no).
  • We know their target group.
  • We found an image nearby at Flickr under the Creative Commons license.
  • Next step: Let our integrated AI engine suggest the relevance.

Here is a screenshot of the map from Flickr:

In Craft CMS (illustrated below)

  1. Search for image using the Geopix AI integration under Assets.
  2. If image is found under the Creative Common Lisence, then press "Add to assets". If not, press "Request" for automatically asking the photografer to be allowed to use the particular image at the site.
  3. Optional: Press "Relevance" and have the Geopix AI (using the API from Perplexity) to suggest how to write (not what to write).
  4. Go on with your article using a more relevant image for your site.

Step by step (detailed):

  1. AI prompt (highlighted text is replacement by our short codes as mentioned in the other blog post):

With the purpose of enriching the website and writing relevant content, make a suggestion on how Stundo, which specializes in Local food producend in a restaurant near by Hol Ysteri, at the location Hol, Norway, with their target audience being People interested in local foods, great concerts, events, and a sustainable life style, can use a photo from Myro, Buskerud, Norway, where the photo title reads View on Hol, Norway, and the photo description is as following: The lake in the center of the photo is Holsfjorden. The snowy mountain is belonging to national park Hallingskarvet. Hol Kommune, the municipality of Hol. The villages and/or hamlets Hol, Hovet, Myrdal, Strønde, Sudndalen, Hagafoss, Kvisla, Geilo, Dagali, Ustaoset and Haugastøl are together Hol Kommune. (...etc).

  2. Our integrated AI model suggest the following:

    [introduction above].

Develop a blog post or article titled "From Mountain to Table: The Journey of Our Ingredients," using the image to illustrate the restaurant's commitment to using local, sustainable products from the Hol region.

    [more information below].

  3. The creative common license of Flickr dictates as following:

    • You are free to: Share  — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format. The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.
    • Under the following terms:  Attribution  — You must give  appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
    • NonCommercial  — You may not use the material for commercial purposes.
    • NoDerivatives  — If you  remix, transform, or build upon the material, you may not distribute the modified material.
    • No additional restrictions  — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

Thats why we have the Geopix AI icon made. It will float above any image used by our plugin, linking back to original post, the license, and show the creators name on mouseover /hover. Examples as follows:

How it would look at our example blog

Below: Image borrowed from Flickr without cred to the creative (bad practise)

Below: Image with the Geopix AI plugin and cred (good practise)

  • Geopix AI icon always at 5-10% size relative to image size
  • Geopix AI icon always at a 3-5% padding
  • Geopix AI icon always at 50% opacity (before mouseover)

Below: Image with mouseover / hover and link to the original photography, and creator at Flickr.

  • Geopix AI icon on hover shows the Flickr username
  • Geopix AI icon is red or gray, depending on the user settings
  • Geopix AI icon retur to 50% opacity (on mouseleave)

How it would display at the actual web site

The alternative

Yes, you might find alternatives at services like iStockphoto. But they are likely not relevant, or even geographically near the business.

Even if you found one image for illustation purpose, you might not have a clue on how to incorporate it for the website in question.

Homage to the creative

We wish both Stundo.no (the restaurant) and Multerland... (the photographer) the best of luck in pursuing their journey to having more visitors and customers in each of their respective field of business.

Geopix AI with Craft CMS would have helped them both.
